I have visited Mount Athos in Greece - the Holy Mountain - on several occasions, each time with a camera. Here is a small collection of photographs from my wanderings. You will not find any monks here. While there are some monasteries shown here, I have mostly focused on the monopati, the ancient, now often overgrown footpaths that connect the monasteries and hermitages. I have been drawn to these paths, to the way they are carved into the landscape, to the way they are lit at different times of the day, and to the way they evoke a sense of solitude and contemplation. I hope these images convey some of the beauty and mystery of this unique place.
